Hi zhanbo

In A, is “carved into” a verb or an adjective?

E seems to be the only choice that has an independent clause with a verb. I failed to understand why you eliminated it. Was the problem edited after your post?

A) In the Nazca region of Peru, an area famous for the Nazca lines,

B) In the Nazca region of Peru, an area famous for the Nazca lines, which are

C) In the Nazca region of Peru, an area famous for the Nazca lines that are

D) The Nazca region of Peru, an area famous for the Nazca lines,

E) The Nazca region of Peru is an area famous for the Nazca lines,

Nice question! I took a while to understand that the sentence needs a verb doing the action, are, is, was etc... or an independent clause with the non-underlined sentence acting as a modifier. This kicks A & D out.

B & C, In the so n so region, an area... okay then what? Both these sentences tell us what the lines are but have no reason to start with 'In'

E is the only option that makes sense, independent clause + some explanation.
