From the nonunderlined portion, we know that the green-backed firecrown [not firecrowns] is singular and requires the singular pronoun its.
THE OPTIONS

ELIMINATE A
We cannot "stick" two independent clauses together with nothing more than a comma.
Doing so is called a "comma splice."
That comma splice is easier to see when we insert the option into the sentence, this way:
Out of the nine hummingbird species found in Chile, the green-backed firecrown is the most widely distributed, its range extends from north-central Chile to southernmost South America.
The part before the comma is an independent clause. The part after the comma is an independent clause. Not okay.
(We can join two full sentences with: 1) COMMA + AND or 2) a semicolon or 3) a period.)
ELIMINATE B
The words that extends modify range, but—what is this whole group of words supposed to be doing?
It is not a modifier.
The noun range does not itself have a verb. (The lone working verb, extends, is eaten up by the pronoun that.)
But if range did have a verb such as extends, we would have the same problem as that in option B.
Whatever comes after the comma is nonsensical.
ELIMINATE C
This modifier describes the bird and does not create any comma splices or nonsensical meaning.
KEEP
→ the singular noun green-backed firecrown does not agree with the plural pronoun their

2)Underlined portion can't be an independent clause i.e Subject and verb of its own- Eliminate B
3)B/W C and D - D is an absolute phrase and a correct construction (Noun + Participle)
C is noun phrase that can not stand alone in isolation.
