According to the results of a recent survey, environmental degradation is piling on to the perils already faced by the tea estate workers, some of the country’s poorest, most neglected workers.

Underlined portion modifies "Tea estate workers" who are
Some of the
country's poorest
and
most neglected
workers

A) some of the country’s poorest, most neglected workers.
Parallelism required by the sentence is missing.

B) IC+IC; Eliminate

C) No verb for subject "being some of the poorest" no appropriate connector etc ..

D) some of the country’s most neglected workers and also poorest.
All good but what is "also" doing there not very clear
Not adding any value or is redundant

E) who are some of the country’s most poorest, most neglected workers.
All good

(E) is the best for me

IMO A is correct. Some of the... correctly modifies the estate workers .
E uses most as well as the superlative poorest together. Such usage is not correct imo.
Need an expert opinion.

My answer is (A). It took me 53 seconds.

(A) Should the comma be replaced with "and"? Probably both are ok.

(B) Comma splice.

(C) the logical subject for "being" may be construed as "environmental degradation "
Besides, If "being" can be removed without affecting the meaningful of the sentence, it should be removed.

(D) Rather wordy and sloppy writing. There should at least be a "the" before the "poorest".

(E) It is wrong to write "most poorest".

IMO A - took me 1min 30 secs

According to the results of a recent survey, environmental degradation is piling on to the perils already faced by the tea estate workers, some of the country’s poorest, most neglected workers.

A) some of the country’s poorest, most neglected workers. - Basically it is giving more information on the tea estate workers - Non Essential Modifier started after comma.
Mainly this question is testing the concept of Separate /Co-ordinate Adjective
These are adjectives that can modify a single noun without being joined by any conjunctions.
eg. Amazing, mammoth procession.
Note that you can use Co-ordinate adjectives only when the adjectives can individually modify the same noun -
in our example Amazing Procession/ Mamoth Procession

In the question at hand - Poorest workers/ Most Neglected workers both can individually Modify the same noun.

B) they are some of the country’s poorest, most neglected workers. Run on Sentence.

C) being some of the poorest, most neglected workers in the country. - incomplete action Being some of the poorest... - Run On sentence.

D) some of the country’s most neglected workers and also poorest. - and also is redundant.

E) who are some of the country’s most poorest, most neglected workers. - Most Poorest is wrong , also changes the original meaning.(new information)

B - run-on
D - not clear meaning when poorest is placed at the last word
A, C, E are very close to one another.
C is wordier compared to A.
E is wordier compared to A.
Ans: A

According to the results of a recent survey, environmental degradation is piling on to the perils already faced by the tea estate workers, some of the country’s poorest, most neglected workers.

A) some of the country’s poorest, most neglected workers. -> As such there is no error. Let's keep it.

B) they are some of the country’s poorest, most neglected workers. -> we need a conjunction to add IC. IC, IC is incorrect form. Incorrect.

C) being some of the poorest, most neglected workers in the country. -> being means something temporary, but it is not in this case. Incorrect.

D) some of the country’s most neglected workers and also poorest. -> It is not better than A. Incorrect.

E) who are some of the country’s most poorest, most neglected workers. -> "most poorest" is incorrect.

So, I think A. :)
