It may soon be possible to insure your facebook, twitter, and other social media accounts against the nuisance of hacking as company has launched the country's first social media insurance. The insurance includes the cost of disabling accounts, suppressing offensive material and stopping any legal action triggered by hacking, for example if a hacker posts illegal material under victim's name.

Which of the following can properly be inferred from the statements above?

my take is D..

A. Social media insurance will make it possible for individual to sue hackers who post offensive content in their name.: passage no where mentions this...cannot be inferred.
B. The launch of social media insurance will most likely lead to a fall in the incidence of hacking on social media sites such as facebook and twitter.: cannot be inferred. it will only help the sufferers..will not reduce the attacks..
C. There is a cost associated with enabling and disabling a social media account.: same from the passage..
D. Under current laws it is possible for a person to be sued for posting offensive material online even if the person did not post the material himself..Correct..the passage states..stopping any legal action triggered by hacking, for example if a hacker posts illegal material under victim's name...so it can be correctly inferred..
E. Social media insurance will only be available for facebook and twitter users...incorrect..

i do not agree to your explanation for option C...I strongly feel that if its same what is stated in the argument , than it must be the answer........Ofcourse there is some other reason fr it...An inference must be the replica of the argument.

Consider Kudos If my post helps!!!!

well i eliminated C coz no where in the passage it has talked of cost associated with "enabling" the social media account .yes it has talked of "disabling" the account. so C as a whole cannot be inferred

as for ur other thing .inference in gmat are mostly logical deductions connecting 2 or more pieces .even if choices are picked from the passages then subtle changes are made to make them explicitly wrong

Aditya, You are absolutely correct, for your decision to eliminate C makes sense......Infact the same is stated in official explanation....I missed hte point....

C is wrong because of "enabling". Attention to details.
the question does not say anything about "cost of enabling social media accounts"

A, B and E are also wrong.

Answer is D.
