does this also mean that per capita 'import' of 'meat' also increased? (different from 'consumption' in B)

Very very tricky questions, almost dirty xD

It's E for the reason (singular) mentioned above. Just when I promised myself I was gonna become more careful with questions involving numbers, I went on the ice again, lol.

dina98, the answer to your question is yes. However had the author of the question written "import" instead of "consumption", we would have had 2 correct answers nobody could refute. Clearly, he used a very nice gimmick to trick most of us actually.

In B there is a subtle line between "consumption" and "import". Consumption is not equivalent to import. Since both the population and import of dairy products decreased,yet population decreased more we can infer that the per capita import of dairy product increased. In answer to the query definitely per capita import of meat also increased but that does not imply per capita consumption of meat increased as mentioned in B.Hence the answer is definitely E.
