The population of Manhattan reached its peak in the early 20th century at about the same time that the percentage of foreign-born persons in the United States reached its peak. Since the 1980s the percentage of foreign-born persons has risen and is continuing to rise, so we can surmise that the population of Manhattan will continue to rise, as well.

The argument above is structurally most similar to which of the following?

Argument structure:
X increased at the same time when Y increases
(event1 - happned )
So, if Y increases again -- X will also increased again (event1 - will happen again )

A.My dog loves beef, so I'm buying him a steak for dinner.
Structure: X happens - Y happens -- independent events

B.The population of Chicago declined from its peak at the beginning of the twentieth century, so it should peak again shortly.
Structure: X increase - X decrease -- independent events

C.Manhattan's crime rate dropped with zero tolerance laws, so it should become nil once we install security cameras.
Structure: X happened- X continues to happen -- independent events

D.Latin replaced Greek as a lingua franca when the Romans took over from Macedonia, so Chinese will replace Japanese when China becomes more economically powerful than the USA.
Structure: X replace Y when Z happens (event 1) - A replace B when C happens (event 2) -- independent events

E.Janine lost the last race to Gunter, so she should lose against him again tomorrow.
Structure :
Janine lost the last race to Gunter,[/color] (event1 - happned )
so she should lose against him again tomorrow. (event1 - will happen again)

Sorry, may I ask what process you use to solve these types of questions? thank you

this is a non gmat question; probably, this is a self-made question. Thus, this question should be removed from the forum.
Why do u say so? why isn't it a GMAT Q?

My pre-thinking of the argument goes as follows -
" An universal set is acting some way, so a sub set should also act in the same way." No answer choice is similar to this. Didn't understand how "E" is the correct answer. Kindly help.
Thanks in advance.
