The engine in bike with engine oil cooler system is significantly cooler than the bikes which do not have them. According to the study by X.D. Power ratings 80% of bikes that experience engine failure due to overheating doesn't have engine oil cooler system. So, it is clear that manufacturing more bikes with engine oil cooler system may be justifiable.
Which of the following would it be most useful to establish in order to evaluate the author claim?
A. Whether present cost structure allows the inclusion of engine oil cooler system to be a feasible option.
B. Whether 80% of bikes were operated in hot & humid ambient temperature.
C. Whether engine oil cooler system can be operated efficiently in cold climates.
D. Whether in the study there is significant no of bikes with engine cooler system that didn't suffer from overheating.
E. Whether 20% of the bikes in the study were fabricated using carbon fiber, a lightweight element to protect the engine from the undue weight.
this is hard questions similar to those in og books.
i call a kind of evidence DISPROPORTIONATE STATISTICS. we can remember this name to know a flaw in statistics.
how to attack a statistics ?
statistic use a proportion or percentage to make a conclusion. but if this percentage or proportion is a NATURAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE POPULATION, the conclusion fall apart. if the population is NATURALLY DISPROPORTIONATE, the argument fall apart.
90 percent of persons who get trafic accident dose not wear helmet. the conclusion is that person who do not wear helmet is easy to get accident.
but if 99 persent of persons on the street dose not wear helmet, the conclusion fall apart.
90 percent of person who pass gmat wear red shirt, so, person who wear red shirt is easy to pass gmat.
but if 99 percent of of person taking gmat wear red shirts, the conclusion fall apart.
so, DISPROPORTIONATE STATISTICS ARGUMENT IS EASY TO LEARN, beat them immediately when you see one.
