E seems to be the only possible answer.
All other options are irrelevant not talking about weight or weight gain.

Weight gain is compared to weight average
Both are separate entities
Also let's say at the start one has 60 as weight then weight becomes 78
Means weight gain is 18. 18*100/60=30 percent
Whereas average weight would become in this case is (60+78)/2= 69
So both are different and E correctly states this
