The television show Henry was not widely watched until it was scheduled for Tuesday evenings immediately after That’s Life, the most popular show on television. During the year after the move, Henry was consistently one of the ten most-watched shows on television. Since Henry’s recent move to Wednesday evenings, however, it has been watched by far fewer people. We must conclude that Henry was widely watched before the move to Wednesday evenings because it followed That’s Life and not because people especially liked it.

Which one of the following, if true, most strengthens the argument?

(A) Henry has been on the air for three years, but That’s Life has been on the air for only two years.

(B) The show that replaced Henry on Tuesdays has persistently had a low number of viewers in the Tuesday time slot.

(C) The show that now follows That’s Life on Tuesdays has double the number of viewers it had before being moved.

(D) After its recent move to Wednesday, Henry was aired at the same time as the second most popular show on television.

(E) That’s Life was not widely watched during the first year it was aired

Imo C

Conclusion is - We must conclude that Henry was widely watched before the move to Wednesday evenings because it followed That’s Life and not because people especially liked it.

So we have to search for an answer choice that validate the conclusion

Choice C does that pretty well. It tells us that another play that was not watched widely is now watched by double the people after moving to time slot after That's life.

(A) Henry has been on the air for three years, but That’s Life has been on the air for only two years. Incorrect

it is not a fact

(B) The show that replaced Henry on Tuesdays has persistently had a low number of viewers in the Tuesday time slot. Incorrect

against argument

(C) The show that now follows That’s Life on Tuesdays has double the number of viewers it had before being moved. Correct

support argument

(D) After its recent move to Wednesday, Henry was aired at the same time as the second most popular show on television. Incorrect

it against argument, because That’s Life is not main reason, the second most popular show is the reason for few people watched it

(E) That’s Life was not widely watched during the first year it was aired Incorrect

The argument is that shifting Henry's to after That's Life was the reason for increased viewership since the viewership of Henry dropped after it was shifted from its Tuesday slot to Wednesday slot.

We have to strengthen the above argument.

(A) Henry has been on the air for three years, but That’s Life has been on the air for only two years. -- Not relevant to the argument. Eliminate.

(B) The show that replaced Henry on Tuesdays has persistently had a low number of viewers in the Tuesday time slot. -- Weakens the argument that the cause for high viewership was something other than the placement of Henry.

(C) The show that now follows That’s Life on Tuesdays has double the number of viewers it had before being moved. -- Strengthener. Lets keep this.

(D) After its recent move to Wednesday, Henry was aired at the same time as the second most popular show on television. -- So show is still popular? So the reason was not the placement? Potential weakener? Eliminate.

(E) That’s Life was not widely watched during the first year it was aired -- Irrelevant to the argument. Eliminate.

This is a causal argument.

The argument concludes that the really popular "That's Life" show is what caused "Henry" to be widely watched before it moved to Wednesday showings.

Our evidence is a correlation.

Henry was not widely watched before being moved right after "That's Life."

After it was placed following "That's Life," its viewership increased .

"Henry" has been moved again, this time to Wednesday, and it does not follow "That's Life" anymore.

What would help strengthen the argument that it was indeed "That's Life" that caused the viewership to increase? Show me that the next show that took over for Henry had its viewership increase a great deal as well. Or show me that when other TV shows moved away from its spot after "That's Life," it too fell in viewership.

(A) Henry has been on the air for three years, but That’s Life has been on the air for only two years.
Has nothing to do with viewership

(B) The show that replaced Henry on Tuesdays has persistently had a low number of viewers in the Tuesday time slot.
Weakens
(C) The show that now follows That’s Life on Tuesdays has double the number of viewers it had before being moved.

Shows the presumed cause with the presumed effect... Correct

(D) After its recent move to Wednesday, Henry was aired at the same time as the second most popular show on television.
So what? Henry airs at the same time as a really popular show? We want to know whether the "That's Life" show caused the viewership Henry had when it followed the show.
(E) That’s Life was not widely watched during the first year it was aired
This absolutely does nothing for us, who cares about what that show did in its first year.
