If 10% of the adults at the mall have no children, what is the ratio of adults with children to adults without children at the mall?

Let total number of adults = 100
Adults who have no children = 10% of 100 = \(\frac{10}{100}\) x 100 = 10
Therefore adults with children = 100-10 = 90

Hence the required ratio = adults with children / adults without children = \(\frac{90}{10}\) = \(\frac{9}{1}\) or 9:1.

Answer E....

If 10% of the adults at the mall have no children, what is the ratio of adults with children to adults without children at the mall?

A. 1 : 9
B. 2 : 3
C. 3 : 2
D. 3 : 4
E. 9 : 1

We are given that 10% of the adults at the mall have no children, which means that 90% have children.

Therefore, the ratio of adults with children to those without children = 90 : 10 = 9 : 1.

A. 1 : 9
B. 2 : 3
C. 3 : 2
D. 3 : 4
E. 9 : 1
Solution:

We can let the total number of adults at the mall be 10. So, 1 adult has no children and 9 adults have children. We see that the ratio of adults with children to adults without children at the mall is 9 : 1.
