The value of x + y + z =

(A) 120°
(B) 160°
(C) 180°
(D) 270°
(E) 360°

Attachment:

\(A + B + C = 180°\)

\(x = A + B\)

\(y = B + C\)

\(z = A + C\)

\(x + y + z = A + B + B + C + A + C\)

\(2A + 2B + 2C\) \(= 2 (A + B + C)\)

\(2 (180°) = 360°\) . Answer (E) ...

Hey sashiim20 , i think you have made a mistake in solving this question,

basically the angles are not exterior angles , but vertically opposite angles of each angle of the triangle..

From the figure we can visualize that ,
x= C
y = A
z = B

x + y + z = A + B + C = 180°

Answer C.

(A) 120°
(B) 160°
(C) 180°
(D) 270°
(E) 360°

Looking at the diagram, we see that C = x, B = z, and A = y. Since A + B + C = 180, x + z + y = 180.
