I think I'm lost here, isn't the answer $180? please correct me, if wrong.

Since this is a vase the top part has to be open! Therefore when calculating the surface area you need to subtract the base (10*15).

Solution:

Let the dimensions be:

w=10
l=15
h=12

Surface area = 2(wl + wh + lh) = 900

Subtract the top part of the vase: 900 - wl = 750

Multiply the area by 20 cents, as this is price per unit squared: 750*20 = 15000

Now divide by 100 to get price in dollars: 15000/100 = $150

==> B
