Let initial monthly salary = S.
February 2014: savings = 20% of S = 0.2S.
January 2015: salary increases 100% → new salary = 2S.
January 2016: salary increases 200% → new salary = 3×(2S) = 6S (so February 2016 salary = 6S).
Initial expenses = S − 0.2S = 0.8S. Expenses doubled over the two years → final expenses = 2 × 0.8S = 1.6S.
February 2016 savings = final salary − final expenses = 6S − 1.6S = 4.4S.
Increase in savings = 4.4S − 0.2S = 4.2S.
Percent increase
=> (4.2S / 0.2S) × 100%
=> 21 × 100%
=> 2100%.
