Let T, M and F be the total number of shoppers, male shoppers and female shoppers respectively.

The question asks whether M>25 ?

Per statement 1, M=F+10 , without the value of T, this statement is clearly not sufficient. If T= 50, then F=20, M = 30 ("yes") but if T = 30 , then M = 20 ("no") and F = 10. Thus you get 2 different answers for question asked. Not sufficient.

Per statement 2, F=0.4T --> again clearly not sufficient.

Combining the 2 statements you get, F = 0.4T, M=0.6T and M=F+10 , you have 3 equations to solve for 3 variables. Sufficient.

C is the correct answer.

Let's take shoppers=s; male shppers=m; female shoppers=f Question: IS m>25? Answer can be: TRUE or FALSE, we don't need value here. 1) m=f+10 => we don't know f here, so we don't know if m>25. 2) f=0.4s => we don't need this information alone 1) & 2) We have m=f+10 & f=0.4s Substituting => m=0.4s+10 From this, we can derive m which can be > or < than 25. Hence C

Actually this is a very easy question.

Remember integer constraint is implied because we are talking about people. It can't be 1/2 or 3/4 of a woman. So 1,2,3,4.... Now first one doesn't tell us much. 10 more females than males so what? There could be 2 females and 12 males or 50 females and 60 females. So that's not the answer.

2) doesn't tell us much either because there could be (remember integers) 4 females and 6 males = 40% females. or 8 females and 12 males. 8/20 is 40%. or There could be 40 females and 60 males....

Add them together, has to be 40% females and 10+ males than females. So think of it as a ratio question:

4 females, 6 males = 40% - less than 10
8 females, 12 males -- still less than 10
12 females, 18 males.... 
16 females, 24 males
20 females and 30 males. BINGO - This satisfies both conditions. 10 more males than females and 40% are females. 20/50 is 40%. So there you have it.
