clearly Statement1 and Statement2 are insufficient individually
Adding both 1 and 2
x + 2y - 8 > 0
2x + y - 8 > 0
==> 3(x+y)>16
==> (x+y)>16/3 ..... clearly <6
ANS: (C)

x>16/3 implies that it takes all values from 16/3 to infinity. Since 16/3<6, we can not determine whether it is greater than 6

Ans E

Yeah my Bad ....its E

Is x + y > 6?

(1) x + 2y > 8
(2) 2x + y > 8

#1
y=5 x=0
y=4,x=1
y=4,y=2
insufficient
#2
x=2,y=4
x=4,y=1
x=5,y=0
insufficient
from 1 &2
nothing in common
IMO E
