I think the question ask "how much more sales tax" that means it's asking for numerical value, not percentage

The exact numerical value is 240 USD
(2) S = C + 3

The difference between 2 sides (how much more sales tax):
800*(C+3)/100 - 800(C)/100 = (800C+2400-800C) = 240 USD

But the answer B no matter.

800(c + 3)/100 - 800c/100 = 24, not 240. All is correct in the initial solution above.

The $800 is the price of the computer in both the store and the catalog, but the tax rate varies. For both scenarios, we need to calculate sales tax based on this pre-tax price of $800.
Hence the $800 is without the tax.

Tim can buy a certain computer for $800 at a local store, or he can buy the same computer for $800 from a catalog. The sales tax charged by the store is s percent and the sales tax charged by the catalog is c percent. If s > c, how much more sales tax will Tim pay if he buys the computer at the store instead of from the catalog?

(1) s = 2c

(2) s = c +3

We need only the differential between the values of tax rates i.e. s and c

because the excess tax chatged at store = (s-c)% of 800

Question: s-c = ?

Statement 1: s = 2c
But we do NOT have s-c hence
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: s = c +3
i.e. s-c = 3
SUFFICIENT

ANswer: Option B
