Hi, I am 20 years old from Italy. In July I will be graduating from Luiss University in Rome. Here is my profile for MiM.
Target schools:
1) HEC Paris MiM 2nd round
2) Bocconi Master in Intl. Management preferably CEMS
3) ESSEC MiM
4) ESCP MiM

Academics: Bachelor in Economics and Business (english), Major Finance. GPA of 29.95/30 (scored the maximum in every course except one). I have no info about my ranking in class but I got scholarship for merit (21° ranked among hundreds of applicants). Luiss is the second-ranked business school in Italy after Bocconi (for comparison, MiM at Luiss is 30° in the FT and for Business is 40-ish). Luiss has some alumni placed in HEC but it's usually few (of the year before me I know 3 for sure all from my course)
-
GMAT: Not yet but i scored 680 in first mock and 720 in second. I was 99 percentile in Verbal the second time.
-
International experience: I did the whole 2nd year at Utrecht University School of Economics in the Netherlands.
-
Work experience: 2.5 months in Deloitte Consulting, Rome in summer 2023. The project was about digital transformation and transition into SAP for a pharma company in the Middle East. I wasn't extremely involved in the project and I felt that my team wasn't really prepared for an intern. I did something with Excel and SAP but then my supervisor also got injured while on client site and by the end of August I had no task assigned anymore.
-
Semi-working experience: For 1 year now I have been involved in a startup that provides consulting and funding advice to other startups. We give assistance both with their strategy and with the valuation and presentation to potential VC investors. I am now Team Leader of the consulting team but in the past i did very different things with clients: Marketing campaigns, Sustainability Reports, Market researchs. Among our clients a vegan ice cream producer with 1.8 million € pre money.
-
Extracurricular on campus experience: I did some stuff. I am now director of the oldest finance club on campus (and one of the oldest in Italy, born in 2013) which also has a strategic consulting division so I am both director of Finance and Consulting. Before being appointed director I was in Consulting branch and was organizing events with guests from MBB (we had two consultant from McKinsey and one from BCG) plus organizing training sessions for case interviews. At the same time I was in the junior enterprise of my university for 1.5 years in the audit team (the concept of junior enterprise is nonexistent in countries like USA and UK but was born and is very developed in France), I had to leave because of conflict of interest with the directorship of finance club. I also had a countrywide experience as Data Analyst for the Italian Confederation of the Junior Enterprises for 1 year.

Reference letter: I could get a letter from Mathematical Finance professor who taught also courses at Princeton and was Research Fellow at LSE. For the other letter still thinking.
I wanna also add that my target is strategic consulting MBB in Milan/Dubai (London would be a dream though). I have a little knowledge of French but I would have to pick up again most of it to be fluent even at B2
1. Acads are good. The GMAT (quant) seems a bit on the lower side percentile-wise (given the Verbal 99-percentile). A balanced score, above your target program's average, would be ideal.
2. Your roles in consulting, particularly with the big-4 brand and advising start-ups are interesting. While this could give you an edge over other consulting-aspirants applying, linking your experiences to your motivation and how the program can help, would be crucial. Some points to ponder on would be: why consulting? which domain/ niche within consulting, if any? why you (i.e. vs others)? what's the plan B? how will an MiM and "particularly our school" help?
3. ECs and international exposure offer good talking points in essays. Would suggest researching your target programs in-depth to identify the key traits they value, and tailor the anecdotes accordingly.
Hope this helps a bit.
