I gave my 2nd GMAT exam 2 days back and to my shock, I got a devastating score of 550(Q:48, V:19). I was completely shocked and just couldn't believe my eyes. Even in the previous GMAT exam I got 590(Q:47,V:25). Though this score is bad as well, but the main surprise was that my verbal score fell by 6 points. 
Even in my practice exams I never got below 32 in verbal, with the maximum being 40. I have given MGMAT exams, GMATPREP, some free online exams as well (including Veritas and Economist). I was so annoyed that I wanted to go for a recheck of the score. Is it possible to do that? I want to give my 3rd attempt probably by the end of next month. I had so many weird questions in my GMAT, especially in the SC and CR part. One of the question was:
The modern artifacts, like in other cultures, ....... . I don't remember all the options, but one of them was like those of. Most of my questions were weird like this one. Nothing of the sort I had practiced before. Can someone help me make a study plan for the verbal section? I'm good in SC and CR, but questions such as the one mentioned above make me feel that I may be overestimating my calibre in SC and CR. Can someone help me make a study plan for the verbal?

Hi,
We have seen this happening with many candidates. There are various factors that will directly reflect on your GMAT scores. Only way to overcome that is to practice maximum number of questions possible. Also take mock tests to understand the various patterns. If still it does not help, talk to an expert and ask them to analyse your scores and ask for suggestions to improve. There are so many factors that come into play to put together a game plan for Verbal. You had quite a bit of variation before 32-40, so that suggests that there is some work to do to solidify your verbal foundation. What have you done for study up to this point? Other things like timing and psychology come into play as well. If you feel like you are seeing completely new problems it can rattle you enough to where you second guess yourself, lose focus and start to panic. Did that happen on this last exam?
