How important is IR score in applications for ISB, IIMs?
How much should we aim for? I am currently getting 3-4 in my mock tests.

Many Business Schools have publicly stated that they don't use the IR score as part of the application process, so you likely have nothing to worry about there. However, if you want to know how a specific School/Program views that section of the GMAT (and how they might judge you on it), then you should contact that School/Program directly and ask. The School's Admissions Reps will give you the specific information that you're after.

Work towards at least a 5. Today, IR score is more important than it was a couple of years ago and its importance will keep rising. Your GMAT score is valid up to 5 years and hence it makes sense to focus on this aspect of the application too. The schools you have mentioned are unlikely to give you much of an answer on their admission criteria as far as IR is concerned so the best you can do is get at least a safe score.

The schools that you have mentioned are very competitive and have a lot many Indians applying to them. 
So, you would not want to leave any stone unturned. Aim for a respectable score. As Karishma said, 5+ would be good.

Moreover, IR has been in the picture from many years and I doubt if many people without the IR score would still be applying. So the schools can definitely compare the IR scores too.

Having said this, best way to seek information about a school is the ADCOM. bug them and see if you can get an answer.

ISB have stated multiple times that they  don't  use IR. You never know when that will change though, so it's better to play it safe.
