You have a diverse professional experience with decent international exposure. GMAT score is also good. Experience across operations, sales and marketing makes the profile very well rounded. Your cultural familiarity across India and UAE is also a strength that can be leveraged during applications. You have a strong profile from MBB standpoint given you get decent grades in MBA as well. Make sure your long term goals are well articulated and logically linked to your journey so far. Here are my recommendations for prospective B-Schools:

1) Dream schools: Kellogg, Stanford, Booth

2) Target schools: Columbia, Sloan, Ross

3) Safety schools: INSEAD, HEC, ISB

You have a great chance of scholarship (either partial or full for Target and Safety schools). Make sure to spread out your applications across R1 and R2 such that you get enough bandwidth to submit a high quality application while covering schools from each of the 3 categories.

Feel free to reach to reach out to us at Preppie (https://www.preppie.in) for a detailed discussion around schools and application strategy.

Regards,
Team Preppie

Hello Team,

Please evaluate my profile,

Demographics:
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Nationality: United States

Education
Bachelor's Degree: Mechanical Engineering
University: California State School (#43 ranked by Forbes "Top Colleges" of 2023)
GPA: 3.13

Work Experience (3 years)

Manufacturing Engineer in Fortune 500 Biotech - 2 years
Sales Engineer for previous Fortune 500 (went private) Aerospace supplier - 1 year

GMAT
GFE: 695 (V88, Q85, DI81)

Extracurricular Activities
Organized multiple inter-college philanthropy for the homeless
President and Head of Accreditation for fraternity

Short-term: My plan is to use my MBA to work as a consultant to assist with the modernization of manufacturing floors. This could span multiple sectors, as my experience in aerospace and biotech proved to be very similar when looking under the paradigm of simple manufacturing. My experience has given me a hands-on understanding of which principles (Six Sigma, Lean, TOC, etc.) work in which situations and how to tailor that based on the context. I feel an MBA can improve my understanding of business as a whole, help me build a business case for certain additions/subtractions, and fill a gap in my current knowledge, as I am mainly engineering-driven.

Long-term: I would eventually like to start and run my own company. I have found the most passion for work relating to improvements in manufacturing efficiency, so I am currently deciding which industry would be right for me to pursue. I feel the exposure a manufacturing consultant experiences would be extremely beneficial, as I have seen large and small manufacturing floors in markets spanning biotech, semiconductors, and aerospace. I chose to pursue an MBA rather than a master’s in science due to my long-term goal of owning or running a business.

Please let me know if there is anything else needed for the review. I look forward to hearing back!
