Hi again, happy to help.

If you're comfortable with the risk, then you don't have to have a safe school.

One thing I probably should have mentioned is that getting a job in VC right out of b-school is less typical and quite challenging, really from any school. It depends a lot on having the right connections, and even at the top schools, it can be hard to go straight to VC. So I think you could look at schools that are in cities with strong start up scenes or tech focus (which is why I thought USC in LA or McCombs in Austin).

You need to be excited about the school and feel it is worth it, so do think carefully about whether you would actually want to attend that school. You might want to read this blog post: https://www.mbamission.com/blog/2014/09 ... ing-point/

Hope this helps!

Hi mbaMissionKate,

Thank you so much for your response! It's given me some much-needed peace of mind. If I could ask a quick follow up question: I did consider experimenting with T-25 schools such as Olin or USC but the problem is that while they are good schools, they typically are not feeders to the VC industry; this doesn't align with my short-term goal. While ranked lower than others, Stern doesn't seem a safe "safe" school, and schools ranked below it don't align with my goals. What do you suggest I do? I'm struggling to fill my "safe" school spot.
