Hi - can you please help review my profile?
Age: 29
GMAT: 730 (Q49 V41)
Background: White female
Education: 3.54 GPA, BBA Finance - Top 50 University
Experience:
Immediately after undergrad, I spent 3 year doing investor relations consulting for corporations.
Then transitioned to Equity Sales at a middle market investment bank (think Cowen, Oppenheimer, RayJay). I've been there for 4.5 years. Had two impressive promotions.
My story: Part of my current equity sales role is selling the investment banking transactions to my clients... This is my favorite part of my role and I want to transition to investment banking to be more involved in this. I'd argue that my equity sales experiences gives me the relationship and sales skills to be a successful banker, but I still need a real corporate finance and accounting training to make that transition.
Immediate MBA Goal: Investment banking program at a bulge bracket.
Target Programs: Columbia, Sloan, NYU, Yale
Age: 29

I think your career trajectory sounds strong and I think the mix of those roles would prepare you well for many of the core skills in investment banking. Yet I agree that to get into your target role, an MBA would be a great way to formalize finance skills and gain access to bulge bracket banks. You also narrowed in on 4 programs that are well known for those things (potentially could add Cornell if you want another slightly safer option, yet still strong in that field).
Your GMAT is strong and a well balanced Q/V breakdown, and your GPA is strong too.
Any extracurriculars / personal stories / leadership examples that might set you apart from others? That is something to make sure you try to bring out.
I think CBS and Sloan are possible, though will be more selective than the others, especially at CBS where they have rolling applications, so the sooner you can get your application in, the better!
Be sure to demonstrate your interest to the schools by networking / ideally visiting!
