Everyone,
So I have been on these forums for a while and never asked for anyone's opinion but I'm asking now! I have been offered a half-ride scholarship to Chicago Booth and a full-ride scholarship to Cornell Johnson. I want to go into investment management after school. I like both schools a lot but would rather be in a more rural, northern setting during my MBA studies. That said, I recognize that Chicago Booth has better placement into the sector and also has higher prestige. I, like many of you, am not made of money and that extra one-year's worth of tuition paid is a big deal but I also recognize that it is likely peanuts in the great scheme of things.

Congrats for your admission
I hope you reached a decision. Although I understand you point being in rural area, I would advise you to think in Booth.
Firstly, Booth brand is one of elite school in IB. This is reflected in quality of the program and it help you prepare for your career.
Secondly and more importantly, the competition in IB is brutal. Booth with not only its brand but its location mean networking. you will be in Chicago. You will be in the heart of the action. You can access a lot of opportunities without thinking to travel. Even if you think to travel, it is easy to fly from O'hair or midway to any place easier than from Ithaca. The number of Booth alumina in IB will be an asset, taking into condensation that Booth alumni are huge in different places. You might find considerbale number in NY if you want to network there.

Hi, I’m a current 2Y Booth student, so taking the liberty of chiming in here.
Booth has some excellent resources around IM. The recruiting support from school is only bolstered by the schools robust relationships with IM giants like T Rowe Price, PIMCO etc.
Additionally, the alumni network at these places will be a huge source of recruiting support.
Finally, the Finance and Asset Pricing coursework at Booth is like no other - you can be in Eugene Fama’s class (if you’re prepared for the workload). Have seen IM aspirants get placed over the summer with shops based in DC, Baltimore, SF and Chicago!
