Its kind of weird that youre thinking of this before being admitted to insead. Not saying it will happen, but maybe INSEAD may make the choice for you.

Indeed, INSEAD will be the top over IESE in any metric except banking (consulting and industry are strong with), a higher return on investment, a more international cohort, more international brand name etc, but youre gunning 100% on the fact that you will have the luxury of choice.

PS. No grade disclosure is a very good thing by the way, it shouldnt be negative. Imagine a recruiter picking another candidate over you cause of a mark difference.

Thanks for your input, guys.

whiteshields1830, I think you must have misread what I said. I said IESE has NO grade NON-disclosure policy. I prefaced the post by saying that it might be premature to discuss the options. So I fully understand that it might be weird. But given the IESE deposit deadline approaching soon, I wanted to gather fellow gmatclubbers' input considering my objectives. Congrats on INSEAD btw!

My bad, I read incorrectly. Also note that IESE has a strange grading system where the bottom 10-15% (forgot the exact figure) of the section will receive C. Have 4 or 5 Cs in one year will result in a panel review where you will have to explain yourself.

I guess in regards to the deposit deadline, I say put it through as a safety measure.

Thanks by the way, I had the same decision as you, except with Duke in the mix (was more a INSEAD vs Duke decision for me).

If I am not mistaken, IESE does have a grade non-disclosure policy (which I also agree is, overall, a good policy).

I think IESE has very good placements in Europe (Insead does too). If you were to stay in Asia or USA, I would definetely suggest going to Insead. Also, I understand you dont want to go to Consulting/IB. I might be mistaken but I think IESE is sometimes considered a bit stronger/more focused on non-consulting/IB placements.

I agree that Insead's brand is stronger. I would suggest paying the deposit and then see how it goes with Insead (the deposit is not that much money when you take into consideration the cost of an MBA!).

dynamic,

I am currently doing a MSc finance at a top 10 european business school as ranked by the financial times. The school is located in Germany and offers amazing career perspectives. During the first semester, literally all top consulting companies and investment banks came to campus to recruit. With that being said, I would like to let you know that getting a consulting job in Europe without speaking the language of the respective country is immensely difficult. For one simple fact. The clients of these companies are often small mid size companies whose employees do not speak English.

If I were you, I would really contact INSEAD career center and ask : How many non native french speakers did you place in strategy consulting in French speaking Europe ? How many non EU citizens did you place in london ? This is important.

INSEAD is tailored for applicants who know exactly what they want to do. The program is intensive and will leave you with no time to do the adequate research. Therefore, I believe INSEAD might not be the right school for you at the moment. Maybe take a year and think about where you want to end up. You don't want to be in competition with INSEAD graduates once you graduate from IESE and want to land a gig in the management consulting field.

Besides, the essays and job description questions leave no room to be open-minded. Hope you projected firmly your reasons behind choosing INSEAD.

Good luck :)
