Hi everyone,
Please I need some advise on my dilemma.
I have been accepted into Boston Questrom's Full time MBA program with $30,000 scholarship per year. I also got into UNC yesterday but I did not get any funding. I am hoping to hear back from from Mendoza and Buffalo in the coming week. Here's my dilemma:
I was an international student in the United States for a couple of years and after my Masters degree, I used my OPT. I moved to Canada as a permanent resident last year because of my legal residency status in the USA but I intend to work and live in the United States hence my reason for applying to MBA programs in the United States. If I am moving back to the United States, I will be coming in as an international student without an OPT. I am not certain that I will get a company that will be ready to file for me immediately before graduation so I can work in the US. While I have read that this is possible, I am not sure if it is an option a lot of organizations are open to. So here's my first question: Does anyone have an experience with doing an MBA without an OPT? How did that go and do organizations file for international students before their graduation so they can legally remain in the country?
Also, since I am in Canada currently, I was advised to consider applying to Rotman for my MBA. The problem is I don't think I see myself fitting into the Rotman MBA program and the Canadian corporate market is much smaller than the American job market. Also, since I intend to work and live in the United States, I am not sure if the Rotman MBA will be a good call for me in the US job market. Here's my second question: Has anyone attended the Rotman FTMBA program and then immigrated to the United States for work? Were you equally considered for the same positions as TOP MBA graduates of the United States?
Please if there is anyone that has ever navigated this unusual situation before, can you please share your experience and advice?
One last question, is it okay for me to write a letter to UNC kenan-flagler to request for some form of funding / scholarship?
