I got admits from both programs this week and I want to make a decision soon. I am also in a position where I don't want to wait until next September due to personal circumstances.
My post-MBA goal is to move to strategy consulting or product management. I have 4 years in tech and risk consulting . Which school has a better path towards these careers as an international (26F, Indian)?
Finance wise, both schools are feasible and work out to approximately the same once living costs are factored in. I'm inclined towards ESADE over Ivey despite the scholarship because I prefer living in Europe (I have lived and worked in the UK for 4 years), however, I'm not sure how the job market is and the mobility around the EU or to the UK with an ESADE MBA. Does my UK work experience add any value in being able to find a job in the UK or EU?
Pros for ESADE:
I prefer living in Europe, I speak basic spanish but I am open to learning
Flexible and longer program duration - opting for the 18 month track
Lower living costs
Highly ranked as per the Financial Time
Great weather
Cons for ESADE:
Lower salaries in the EU
I am not a fluent spanish speaker
I will require a work visa to work anywhere in the EU or the UK (I'm an Indian citizen)
Not very sure about the path to work in the UAE after ESADE
No scholarship
Not particularly interested in entreprenuership straight away and nor on the specialisations either
Pros for Ivey:
Seems to be a consulting feeder school
Possible route to PR and to remain in the country long term
Easier to work in the US upon having a canadian citizenship (i think, but not sure on this)
Has the case method and has some specialisations that I would be interested
Received a 40k CAD scholarship
Cons for Ivey:
I'm not sure about how many opportunities are there in consulting in Canada
Its too cold in Canada
Higher living costs
Not clear on if I will ever be able to leverage Ivey elsewhere internationally
In terms of the following which is a better school?
- ROI
- Good salary post MBA and decent working conditions
- Securing a job as an international. I am particularly looking at MBB or the likes of Oliver Wyman for consulting but also open to Tech roles as I have some background in tech and risk consulting.
