Question

I'd like to request a profile evaluation for the upcoming MBA cycle. I'm a reapplicant and would appreciate your view on my candidacy for ISB and NUS before R1. A quick snapshot below:

• Class 10 (ICSE): 95%
• Class 12 (Maharashtra HSC): 84.62%
• B.Tech, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering – KJ Somaiya College of Engineering: 8.96 CGPA
• Published research paper on Deep Learning, IRJET (2021)

Work Experience (3 years 9 months as of June 15, 2026)
• ZS Associates – Associate Consultant (current, 18 months)
• ZS Associates – Associate (30 months) — promoted to AC
I lead delivery of large-scale omnichannel and field campaigns(sales and marketing campaign) for global pharma clients at ZS, running analyst teams and working with senior client leadership to turn commercial strategy into actionable insights.
• Currently leading a team of 5+ Associates
• On track for Consultant promotion by December 2026
• Recipient of multiple performance awards at ZS
• Prior internship: Instructional Designer at an edtech startup

My first suggestion would be to improve your GMAT score: a 665-675+ would be ideal, considering your target programs.

It'd be crucial to have a strong narrative covering your experiences, career goals, and how the MBA fits in at this juncture.

As a re-applicant, it'd also be important to showcase tangible updates e.g. professional, extracurriculars, more clarity on post-MBA goals (if required), etc. since your previous application.

Getting to the interview stage last cycle tells us the profile reads well on paper; the admit decision broke down somewhere in the room between your application narrative and the interview itself, and that distinction matters enormously for how you approach this cycle.

•⁠ ⁠The GMAT is the most urgent lever: a Focus 625 sits roughly 50 to 55 points below ISB's recent median on the Focus scale, and that gap keeps you in a risk pool even with a strong ZS trajectory. A retake targeting 675-plus would remove the score as an active liability.

•⁠ ⁠Your ZS arc is genuinely differentiated; the promoted-to-AC story with a pending Consultant call, client-facing delivery, and a five-person team at under four years of experience is exactly the accelerated-growth narrative ISB responds to. Make sure your essays quantify the commercial impact of those omnichannel campaigns, not just the scope.

•⁠ ⁠For NUS, the reapplicant angle cuts differently: the school expects you to name what changed, not just what improved. A sharper post-MBA goal statement grounded in the pharma-commercial-strategy space will do more work than a higher score alone.

•⁠ ⁠The photography club and placement office headlines are underdeveloped; the badminton arc, with the district-to-corporate-champion thread, is the stronger personal story and deserves more real estate in your short essays.

I’m seeking an honest assessment of my profile for the ISB PGP 2027–28, particularly my chances of receiving an interview shortlist.

Academics

* 10th: 7.6 CGPA
* 12th: 64%
* Graduation: 6.99 CGPA
* GMAT: 755 (current GMAT Exam scale)
* No academic awards

Work Experience

I joined my organisation as an intern in September 2022 and converted to full-time. Since then, I have progressed through:

* Business Analyst
* Senior Business Analyst
* Manager
* Senior Manager

I received a promotion each year after conversion, all within the same organisation. I currently work in performance marketing across e-commerce, BFSI and FMCG/healthcare, with responsibilities spanning client management, campaign strategy, business growth, stakeholder management and team leadership.

Leadership and Recognition

* Managed and mentored junior team members
* Contributed to team members’ professional growth
* Received internal awards and client appreciation
* Taken on increasing responsibility with each promotion

Extracurriculars and Family Business

* Participated in college fests and events
* Long-term football hobby
* Played Taekwondo in school and won medals

During COVID, I also helped in my father’s business, which supplies brands such as Havells through CPC, CSD and defence canteens. I supported operations, coordination and business-related activities. I would especially appreciate feedback on:

Hi StuffRain , First off, congratulations on your GMAT score! Now let me respond to your queries: 1. Past Acads - There is absolutely nothing you can do about it now. Leverage your career progression, strong GMAT, and essays to crack the process. 2. High GMAT - Does it offset? Yes, to an extent. The remainder is a function of how well you articulate your story arc. 3. Career Progression & Family business - Try to think on these lines - "What was the impact *You* created?" "What were your key learnings in this process?" You can definitely weave a great narrative around these points; especially your rapid promotion through these 4 years. More than the titles, explain how your responsibilities & impact grew with time. 4. Risky application? - IMHO, leave it to the Adcom

The 755 GMAT is the biggest strength of your profile and will help demonstrate that your academic ability is much stronger than your school and undergraduate scores suggest. The 7.6/64%/6.99 academics are certainly a weakness, particularly the 12th score, but I would not consider them an automatic deal-breaker given the exceptional GMAT.

Your rapid progression from Business Analyst to Senior Manager within roughly four years is another strong positive and should be clearly quantified in the application. Focus on the scale of your work, team/client ownership, business impact and examples of leadership rather than simply listing promotions. The family business experience can add another dimension to your profile if you can demonstrate genuine contribution and specific outcomes. Your career goals also make sense, but the transition from performance marketing to growth/strategy/general management needs to be presented convincingly. Overall, I would definitely apply to ISB rather than treating it as a high-risk application, but the essays and interview will be critical in explaining the academic inconsistency and building a strong leadership narrative.
