Hi everyone, I am Priya from Mumbai. I am 24.
This is my profile:
Masters in Management Studies Finance: 8.04 CGPA
Bachelors in Management Studies Finance: 9.70 CGPA
Cleared CFA Level 1

Work Experience : 2+ years working as an Associate in Investments in Research working at a MFD and now moving into the PMS division.

I want to pursue my masters in finance from HEC for 2 main reasons:
1. Land a job in IB/PE (entry level is fine)
2. I’ve honestly wanted to move abroad and settle from a very long time and think this is the right time.

Planning to give my GMAT and IELTS in the next 3 months.

Since I have already completed my masters, will it be a better choice to go for masters again at HEC ? Or should I go for mba? The reason why I don’t want to go for MBA is because I don’t think my profile is that strong for me to get selected.

Please let me your opinions and which program suits me the best, Masters or MBA.

MBA would be a better option

A quick profile review will be highly appreciated-
10th: 9 CGPA
12th: 87%
B.com - 80%, ACCA Member

Workex:
1. 4 years in EY in accounting advisory services. Got Achiever Extraordinaire thrice at EY.
2. 1.5 years in an accounting outsourcing firm

Extra curricular: Participated in various dance competitions. Haven’t been into extra curricular much since ACCA was an integrated course with B.com, a bit worried about this

GMAT: Recent GMAT mocks scored 525.

Want to go into roles of product manager/brand strategist/creative consulting other than typical finance/accounting roles. (want to completely switch my profile)

Hi Waddup

The EY "Achiever Extraordinaire" recognition three times over and an ACCA alongside a B.Com 80% give you a recognizable foundation for Marshall, and we want to be genuinely useful here: there is a significant gap between where this application sits today and where it needs to be before you submit.

- The 525 mock score is the most pressing issue, and the one that overrides everything else. That number, if it becomes your actual score, would make a Marshall admit very difficult regardless of how strong the rest of the profile looks. Marshall's median sits well above that range, and a score this far below it is a hard filter at most top programs. Before thinking about school lists or essays, focus entirely on getting that number into at least the mid-to-upper 600s on the Focus Edition scale.

- The career switch to PM or brand strategy is the second challenge, and what separates convincing applications from declared intentions is evidence the shift has already begun: a product or UX certification, a side project with a product angle, a volunteer role with a marketing or growth team. our read on what adcoms actually look for in a PM pivot might help you think through what to build before you apply.

- What you have not asked about, but what we think matters more than the EC gap, is whether your EY advisory work ever touched client deliverables, process redesign, or output that required thinking beyond pure accounting. That connective tissue, if it exists, is worth developing carefully in your essays.

- The thin EC profile is real but smaller than the other two issues; the ACCA trade-off is entirely credible and adcoms understand it.

The path to Marshall is possible, but it runs through a much stronger GMAT score first, then a pivot narrative backed by genuine proof points. Happy to dig into either with you if that would help.

Hope this is helpful. Reply here or contact us directly.

Hi FlyingLark

The question underneath your question is really: which program is right for where you are in your career right now? And that is actually easier to answer than you might think.

- Your instinct about the MBA is right, but for the wrong reason. It is not about profile strength; it is that 2+ years of experience puts you well below what HEC's MBA typically sees (the average is around 6 years). The MiF is built for exactly your career stage: strong academics (9.70 and 8.04 are genuinely excellent), CFA Level 1, and 2-4 years in finance with a specific pivot goal.

- Having an MMS already does not work against you. HEC adcoms understand that a European finance master is a structurally different credential from an Indian management degree, and the network differential is real and purposeful.

- The IB/PE goal is achievable through the MiF, but your essays need to name the specific geography (Paris or London) and the specific seat you are targeting, not just a sector label. In our experience, that precision is what separates a credible application from a wishful one. Our take on how to choose between the two programs may help you think this through further.

- Start GMAT prep now rather than waiting until three months have passed. Your academic track record suggests you can reach the median with focused effort; the risk here is running out of time, not ability.

The MiF is the right call for where you are in your career. Get the GMAT done early and build a sharp, Europe-specific story around the IB or PE seat you want, and this becomes a genuinely competitive application.

Hope this is helpful. Reply here or contact us directly.

From business to Data Science at UChicago.
On paper, it shouldn’t have worked. 🎓

Meet Anshul.

A BBA, a Master’s in International Business, sales and product experience.

The kind of profile that points straight to management or consulting. Data Science was nowhere in it.

But working in an AI-driven environment, he noticed something: data wasn’t supporting decisions anymore, it was driving them.

Soon he didn’t just want to understand how businesses use data, he wanted to build with it himself.

The problem?

Business to Data Science isn’t a pivot committees embrace easily. No engineering degree, no CS background.

Most applicants make the same mistake, they spend the whole application justifying the switch. That rarely works.

So we did the opposite. We made his business background the advantage, showing how it led naturally to Data Science: his AI product exposure, his grasp of how businesses create value from data.

The result?
Admit to the MSc in Applied Data Science at UChicago, with a $5,000 scholarship. 💙

The lesson: pivots rarely fail because of your background. They fail because the story doesn’t hold together.

Committees expect clarity. Why this field, why now, how it all connects.

Planning a pivot of your own? Let’s connect your dots 👇
