Could some one please point out the difference between "perhaps" and "may be" (not maybe).
The Titanic was perhaps the biggest ship of its time.
The Titanic was may be the biggest ship of its time.
In the above context, "perhaps" sounds better to the ear. But i want to know the technical difference in terms of the usage of the two words.
