This question is from the gmatclub Grammar book,

2. Alison is still sleeping which means she must had had a good time at the Guns and Roses concert last night.
a) which means she must had had a good time
b) that means she must have had a good time
c) that means she must had had a good time
d) which means she must have had a good time
e) which means she must have a good time

Can anyone please help me understand why the correct answer is d and not b? That vs Which?

I can try
So, between B and D-  IMO D is correct

Roles played by THAT-
1> Essential modifier- emphasizing something in the sentence that is ABSOLUTELY necessary to convey the authors intent and overall meaning.
2> Pronoun- Taking the place of the Subject of the sentence which is usually a noun

Roles played by WHICH-
1> Non-essential modifier- emphasizing something in the sentence that is ADDITIONAL information, without which the sentence is still able to convey the authors intent and overall meaning.
2> Pronoun- Usually proceeded by comma and in most cases refers to the closest noun

Now in this sentence 'which' is correct (even though without comma!) because it helps convey the meaning without ambiguity 'which' refers to the closest noun 'sleeping' followed by the reason for the action noun! If we use THAT here, then because THAT can refer to the closest noun or the subject of the previous clause it is ambiguous whether it is referring to -Alice (subj of the previous clause) or sleeping (closest noun)...hence THAT is ruled out!
