The wording of this question on the Ross application is very specific: Have you ever been expelled, suspended or placed on probation by any secondary school or college you have attended, for reason of academic dishonesty or because of an offense that harmed or had the potential to harm others?
I was put on disciplinary probation for public intoxication in college. I don't know whether I should choose yes or no to the above question. I don't know if my actions had the potential to harm others. (no one was harmed, and there was no academic dishonesty) Any thoughts?
Note: even if I put no, I will still be including my optional essay which addresses this occurrence.
Thank you for your insight!

I think it is worthwhile to answer honestly and definitely state your defense. However, in your case, and I am no lawyer, your offense does not seem to fit that criteria! I had many friends that had minor offenses while doing their undergrad specifically at U of M and MIP does not constitute academic dishonesty nor harm to others. The important part to that question will be how you respond in my opinion, whether it be to defend your action or not. Clearly your academic and work history will prove you a worthy candidate and they want to see how you can handle a question with some controversy! But I am new to this process so that is just my humble .02 lol
I think public intoxication does fit the criteria of "had the potential to harm others". For that, you'd probably have to answer yes. They'll ask you to elaborate and you'll explain that it wasn't that serious it's just you got drunk while you were between 18-22. It's one of those things where it will prob be brushed off when you explain but you don't want them to think you were hiding it.
