I just received word that I have been accepted into ISB. I'll be joining in April, so this post may be premature. However, I am not fully convinced about ISB due to my goals, and I want to ask if ISB is good for what I want to achieve.
I was wondering: how many courses are in ISB for IT Product Management? I could only find six online. Seeing that we need to bid for these courses, is it possible for someone to get into all the courses they want? Especially since I'm assuming a lot of the batch is comprised of engineers (me included).
I was also wondering what percent of the batch gets into the big tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon. I will only be 23 when I join (2 years work-ex), so will these companies even be that interested in hiring such an inexperienced and young person for Product Management?
Another questions, sort of unrelated to PMs but I'm still interested. I'd like to go as an Outbound student to Wharton school. I hear I have to bid for this too? Can someone tell me the whole process for this, and how many students get to go abroad?
Thanks!

Yeah sure. I'm a software engineer, got in through YLP. 740 GMAT score. I'll be joining in 2021 so I'll have 2 years work-ex and I'll be 23 at that point. Should have mentioned this earlier, I guess.

Great. So I am assuming that since you've just started your career, you would be in a developer role (and not necessarily a manager role). I'll be honest here. I would suggest that you use the time you have before joining ISB to familiarize yourself well with Agile processes (Scrum, Kanban, whatever). I come from a PM background (but in automotive) and my experience is that the best way to polish your 'technical' PM skills is by either working in a project driven role (you don't have to be a System Leader; being part of a project in itself teaches you a lot about processes) or doing a specific masters in Project Management or allied fields. ISB's PGP is an MBA in the true sense of the word so your options to develop technical expertise is limited. I'm not saying it is not there, it's just limited. You can compensate that through work ex and rigorous online learning.

Personally,I don't know anyone who has gone for PM roles at ISB but I know that a few have definitely made it to Amazon, Microsoft, etc.
