Given,

The sequences listed that cannot encode protein were each found in fewer than 50% of the samples taken.-> we can't say it is true of false. Because, there are 4 cases where gene encode protein, in 3 cases samples taken are below 50% (35%, 44% and 33%), but in one case gene encode protein is 64% (greater than 50%). So, we can't say anything for sure here.

Sequences in category A have a lower average (arithmetic mean) number of amino acids than those sequences in category B.- False

Reason:
Average of A = (425+437+476+439)/4= 444.25
Average of B = (386+397+379)/3= 387.3

So, Average of A is not less than Average of B.

When choosing one of the 11 sequences at random, the probability that the sequence will have more than 415 amino acids is greater than 1/2.- True

Reason:

solution :

1)The sequences listed that cannot encode protein were each found in fewer than 50% of the samples taken :

by observation we see that sequences that cannot encode protein , one of them has been found in 99% SAMPLES ( Ovalbumin realted protein Y) , So clearly this is False

so answer for 1) is FALSE

2)Sequences in category A have a lower average (arithmetic mean) number of amino acids than those sequences in category B:

By observation we see that Category A sequences are 4 in number and are in 400's while B category sequences are 3 in number and are in 300's , so we do not even need to calculate and can infer that average of A would be greater than B for amino acids , so answer for q2 is also FALSE

3)When choosing one of the 11 sequences at random, the probability that the sequence will have more than 415 amino acids is greater than 1/2.:

We see that 6 sequences have amino acids > 415
so Prob (Desired ) = 6/11 which will be 1/(1.some decimal) so definitely this will be greater than 1/2

so answer for q3 is True
