The table above gives information for 2011 on vendors, installations, and associated usability ratings for 10 types of Enterprise Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems. In addition to total installations and the number of adverse events, the table also gives the percent change in the total installations and adverse events from 2010 to 2011 and the rank of the EMR for total installations. The table also includes the number of the adverse events that were preventable and the number that were fatal.

Consider each of the following statements about EMRs. For each statement indicate whether the statement is supported based on the information provided in the table.

2)Yes,since change is -6.1% and Value in 2011 is 185, so value in 2010 is ~ 197
3)Yes,since Healthland is having second greatest decrease installations and here the ratio of preventable to fatal is 4590/45 = 102/1
4)Yes,since Healthland is having ninth rank in total installations,with a reduction in total number of adverse events (-ve % per the graph) and lowest in terms of the number of fatal adverse events

1) No, 2nd greatest number of installations: Cerner. Since Cerner doesn't have both the third greatest number of adverse
events and the lowest number of fatal adverse events, the Answer is NO.
2) If you multiply 197*(1-6.1%) is aproximately (you can estimate 6% of 200 which is 12) 185. Answer is YES
3) Second greatest percent decrease in total installations from 2010 to 2011: Healthland. the ratio is 4590/45 which is 102:1. Answer YES
4) The EMR that ranks ninth in total installations: Healthland. Since the % change is negative, they reduced the amount of adverse events and they still rank 2nd. Answer YES

For statement 1 here, I think it should be a Yes. Since Cerner has the 3rd highest adverse events and lowest number of adverse events amongst all the vendors (Since Self Developed is not a vendor for EMRs).

I think the question stem should explicitly state that, whether to consider or not consider self-developed as an EMR.

Let me know, if we need to assume something by default.

Totally agreed. The OA suggests that "self-developed" should not be considered an EMR, while the text in the question didn't differentiate or clarify it.

the third greatest number of adverse events: yes, but the lowest number of fatal adverse events: no. Therefore, no.

In 2010, there were approximately 197 installations of the Allscripts EMR. 
Let 2010 installations are x. So, x - (x*6.1)/100 = 185 or, x=197. Yes.

Hello,

For statement 1: 
Cerner has 18 fatal adverse events.
Self Developed has 18 fatal adverse events.
Even if Self developed is considered a vendor, Cerner has the lowest, i.e: 18. Both Cerner and Self-developed have 18 fatal adverse event. Shouldn't we consider 18 lowest?
So Cerner and Self developed both are lowest and answer should be Yes.
Could you please point to the logical error?

Yes, it should be Yes. The OA is incorrect and will be changed accordingly unless some other reasoning is provided by the member who initially posted it.

185*1.061= 196.28. Shouldnt the answer be no? Since even if approx value is asked it should be greater than 196.5?

From 2010 to 2011, the number fell by 6.1%. If there were 197 installations in 2010, then in 2011 it would be 197*0.939 = 184.983, or approximately 185.
