If k is an integer, is k^2 < 100? 
(1) k <10
(2) k is a multiple of 7

qs :- is k^2 < 100 => is |k| < 10 => is -10 < k < 10?

i) k < 10 => Could be less than -10 as well in that case => Not sufficient

ii) k is a multiple of 7 => k can be -14, -21 etc which falls out of range as well as 7 which falls in the range - Not Sufficient

Combining i) and ii) k can be 7 or -14 = Not Sufficient

Let me p negative factors or multiples of any non-zero integer. The problems of GMAT are quite specific about factors and multiples and ensure that they are positive all the time. No exception so far. I would like to be apprised If I missed even one question ever. But yes technically Negative values may be the factors of multiples... So taking down my explanation.

k can be -7 or 7 when combining both the statements. In both the cases k^2 will be less than 100. Not sure how the ans is E.
