Hello,
I was recently waitlisted at Kellogg, and I was hoping you could give a little insight on how I should respond. It is my number one choice for school, and I want to make sure I put my best foot forward. I know I should call or email to express interest, but the FAQ they provided says this:
"Because our office is closed for several days during the upcoming holiday season, we ask that you wait until after the new year to contact our office regarding your candidacy"
Would you recommend I still call to discuss? Or should I maybe just send an email indicating my interest in the school and mention I will be following up in the new year?
I would love to know your perspective- thanks!
While a wait list decision is not exactly what you were hoping for, it still means the school wants you, just not as much as they wanted others. Your second option, sending an email indicating your strong continuing interest in the school - and thanking them for still considering your application - is best at this time. Then, after the holidays, follow up first with an email/phone call to discuss. You'll want to send the school periodic updates detailing ways in which your candidacy has been strengthened - promotion? completion of a project with fantastic results? pertinent update about an EC activity? - but you don't want to overwhelm them with material. Aim for contacting the school about once a month.
