I am a Wharton alum, and I would be happy to answer questions and help. Essay Analysis & Comments I have been approached by quite a few prospective candidates asking for advice on "what's best to write for Wharton", i.e. what would the school want to hear. My personal view, reinforced by what has worked for me is to decide on what parts of YOURSELF and YOUR story you want to showcase the most, i.e. what makes you unique and valuable, and deliver that using some creative writing. The question then becomes not that of execution, because good execution does not stand in the way. The only thing that matters is then whether YOU are indeed valuable and unique. What makes you valuable and unique? My personal agenda during school visit would've always been "schmooze till you drop" in all the buildings there are. Have a plan before you go: names, classes, visits, conversations, meetings, coffee, events after classes, etc. I have been reviewing alot of veteran candidate essays and I think the key to essays is to keep things simple, honest, and compelling. There is no magic formula and the more "consultants" tell us to sprinkle in examples here and there, the more of the human element you lose. I agree it is important to show the diversity of your experiences, but I believe is is most important to reveal the person you are, your core values, and how you interact with people, resolve conflict, improve, and work to help others. After being here for nearly 2 months, I can already tell how the admissions process reflects the learning team model. Of course they want great candidates, but they are evaluating your leadership charactertistics - how do you resolve conflict, handle intense emotional events? are you conscientious aka do you step up for your team and help to resolve interpersonal disputes? are you comfortable in a variety of roles from leading to filling a supporting role? how far will you go to help your team achieve their goals? do your goals spring from your personal story and values? have your past actions matched up with your goals? what kind of personal impact do you bring here. it is alot less about filling out a formula and a lot more about openness, integrity, and telling your compelling personal story rather than impressing the committee with accomplishments i firmly believe the class is not selected solely according to accomplishments, but by selecting the best people who will create the strongest community/environment with the best possible longevity aka alumni network i know the process sucks, and you guys/girls are stressed but after you craft your essays, take a second and look at how those essays reveal who you are, what makes you tick, focus on leadership but remember leadership has many components liek the ones i referred to - openness, conscientiousness, emotional reactivity, etc PM me if you need any help, I was in your shoes last year, i definitely didnt have the most impressive stats but used my experiences to create a brand around leadership and values and it paid off Application Submission Confirmation Text Last interview questions : https://poetsandquants.com/2010/11/21/l ... al-issues/

I'm pretty sure they only do interview invites on Thursdays. Also, last year, the majority came out on the final day. Not sure if it will be the same this year but thus far it appears so.

I don't think Thursdays are the only days that invites will be released. For round 1, the days were: Thurs 10/27, Tues 11/1, Fri 11/4, and Fri 11/11 (I found these dates by scrolling through this forum). Also, the last day we were told to expect invites is 2/28, which is a Tuesday.

Can someone please check and intimate the dates when the interviews will be held in Mumbai and Delhi? Like the poster above, I have a mad work schedule till the 25th of Feb and am hoping like hell that the India hub interviews are in the last week!

Just curious about your username - Are u a serving Indian Army officer or is 'captain' just a word of choice?

Also, are u sure about the Delhi interview around 15-17 Mar? I am a little doubtful since Ankur had written this in her blog:
Starting on Wednesday, February 1, we will begin hosting interviews on campus, which will continue through Monday, March 12. Major-city interviews will be held during the weeks of February 13 - March 5

Kindly confirm. If the interviews happen in Mid-Mar then it would be awesome for me! (provided I get the invite, of course

)

Nope. They're in Feb. All interviews have to be completed by March 10 and I distinctly remember they're doing India in mid-Feb.

Hi everyone. My application status is "submitted and complete - R2" and i haven't got the invite yet. Does this mean that Wharton has reviewed my application and i should now wait for an eminent ding?

FYI: I am much more optimistic on days other than Mondays

I think you're kidding, but just in case you're not...

All it means is that you submitted all the required pieces of the application and they have your $265 tucked into their pockets.

Please remember the confirmation email that Wharton sent upon submission.

If your online account reads "Complete - Round Two," your application has all the required materials, has been processed by the Operations Team, and has been forwarded to the Committee for review.

It does not mean that your application is finished being reviewed. There would be NO reason for a month long interview invite window if all the apps had been reviewed and decisions rendered. See also:

The Admissions Committee will release interview invitations between Thursday, January 26th and Tuesday, February 28th. Due to the nature and complexity associated with the admissions process there is no particular order in which invitations are released.

People's statuses changed throughout the interview window in R1, so expect the same for R2. R1 admits JUST posted that they did not receive their invites (or see a status change) until subsequent waves of invites (if not the very last day). You will drive yourself crazy if you try to read into every little thing.
