I am a Wharton alum, and I would be happy to answer questions and help. Essay Analysis & Comments I have been approached by quite a few prospective candidates asking for advice on "what's best to write for Wharton", i.e. what would the school want to hear. My personal view, reinforced by what has worked for me is to decide on what parts of YOURSELF and YOUR story you want to showcase the most, i.e. what makes you unique and valuable, and deliver that using some creative writing. The question then becomes not that of execution, because good execution does not stand in the way. The only thing that matters is then whether YOU are indeed valuable and unique. What makes you valuable and unique? My personal agenda during school visit would've always been "schmooze till you drop" in all the buildings there are. Have a plan before you go: names, classes, visits, conversations, meetings, coffee, events after classes, etc. I have been reviewing alot of veteran candidate essays and I think the key to essays is to keep things simple, honest, and compelling. There is no magic formula and the more "consultants" tell us to sprinkle in examples here and there, the more of the human element you lose. I agree it is important to show the diversity of your experiences, but I believe is is most important to reveal the person you are, your core values, and how you interact with people, resolve conflict, improve, and work to help others. After being here for nearly 2 months, I can already tell how the admissions process reflects the learning team model. Of course they want great candidates, but they are evaluating your leadership charactertistics - how do you resolve conflict, handle intense emotional events? are you conscientious aka do you step up for your team and help to resolve interpersonal disputes? are you comfortable in a variety of roles from leading to filling a supporting role? how far will you go to help your team achieve their goals? do your goals spring from your personal story and values? have your past actions matched up with your goals? what kind of personal impact do you bring here. it is alot less about filling out a formula and a lot more about openness, integrity, and telling your compelling personal story rather than impressing the committee with accomplishments i firmly believe the class is not selected solely according to accomplishments, but by selecting the best people who will create the strongest community/environment with the best possible longevity aka alumni network i know the process sucks, and you guys/girls are stressed but after you craft your essays, take a second and look at how those essays reveal who you are, what makes you tick, focus on leadership but remember leadership has many components liek the ones i referred to - openness, conscientiousness, emotional reactivity, etc PM me if you need any help, I was in your shoes last year, i definitely didnt have the most impressive stats but used my experiences to create a brand around leadership and values and it paid off Application Submission Confirmation Text Last interview questions : https://poetsandquants.com/2010/11/21/l ... al-issues/

do you really think that many invites are left? I was thinking more like 10% of R2 invites are left, considering how we have to interview by March 2nd... I will be very surprised if I'm able to get one today. sorry to be a debbie downer but let's be realistic here

I just had my interview and did not get the contact info from the adcomm interviewer (HUB city interview). Should I:
- Write a hand-written note and bring it back to the office of the interview (could drop it at reception)
- Get a hand-written note in the mail asap (international shipping) to the admissions office
- Ask the admissions office for her email and email a note
- Chill out and not worry about it
- Something else?

I really don't think it counts! I didn't send a thank you note to my interviewer even though I had the email address.
If it is an alumni I can see the point of doing that to keep the contact, with an adcom I can't imagine it would matter in any way!

Same here, I didnt send one for W, but I did for the alumni interviews. Adcoms probably submit their report same day, if not right after the interview.

When I signed up for my interview last Thursday (before the 4pm waive of invites came out) there were over 200 slots available on campus. I'm not sure what it looks like now, but that gives reason to believe there still are a fair amount of slots to be offered. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

Lets be "realistic"? You can afford to be realistic because you have a couple of awesome interviews in your back pocket (btw,..how the heck do you know whats "realistic"? 10% sounds like a figure you grabbed outta nowhere), atleast the previous guy broke down his logic,..he didn't throw out a random number. Don't be a debbie downer at the expense of others.

You have to interview by March 9th, right? At least that's what Wharton's Round Two Information e-mail said.

For on-campus you have to interview by March 2. Although perhaps they extend it for people that receive invites this week and next, since that's only three days between Feb 28 and March 2.

I just tried to log in to the online system to get an idea of how many on-campus interview slots remained open (there were a ton when I signed up for my mine). Alas, it won't let me see the available slots now that I've booked mine. Sorry guys, I was trying to see if I could give some idea of invites to be expected over the next 5 days. It wouldn't totally be accurate cause I am sure there are still some invitees who have yet to schedule their interviews, but directionally it might be useful to those who are still waiting. Since I'm going to be in three different countries in the next three weeks, I've booked my interview over the phone (through a completely different system). As a result, I can still see the remaining on-campus interview slots, and they are very limited, primarily mid to late afternoon on weekdays (though the weekday thing was always the case). Only one HUB interview slot left, which is in Mumbai.

Good luck guys - keep your hopes up; there's still today and Tuesday.

had my on-campus interview with a second year student yesterday. word of advice to anyone interviewing - be sure to go through the clearadmit questions. the interviewer has a list of standard questions from which they pick three, and if you review the last 10 interviews on clearadmit you'll be very well prepared.

my behavioural questions:

1. a time i had to manage someone senior to me
2. a time when someone convinced me of an idea that i was initially opposed to.
3. a time when i led a team that failed.

I am HCM applicant. I didnot see any invites today...I think I saw one HCM international invite in the first wave, nothing other than that. Whoever gets an HCM invite, kindly post here so all of us waiting get a sense of what is going on in this department. I checked last years student count from HCM website and looks like they admit around 70-90 HCM students. Let's hope for the best folks.
