Very excited/nervous as well :) Waiting for the interview chat in the next 3 hours to ask a few questions ... not sure if they send bulk invites at 12 am or not

So I just called admissions to check after reading last years thread with everyone hearing at exactly 4:00 PM or so. Supposedly there's not an exact plan or time when the emails will be going out, but they'll all be going out in batches. It seems like most people last year heard on either the first or last day, so I imagine it will be the same this year. I really hope it's the first day, because it would suck to have to wait until ultimatum day!!

Do you know if most people who got interviews received the email on the first day or the last?

Be sure to ask about timing for first batch of interviews & new interview format, I won't be able to join the chat, so your input will be much appreciated.

Will do and post what I can here

No clue what they're doing this year, but last year that seemed to be the trend. If a bunch of people start lighting up this thread tomorrow with interview invites that should answer the question.

Guys, don't waste your energy staying up tonight. They aren't going out at midnight. I would agree with the post above - more like in the afternoon. It's never exact.

Following "gems":
-No, all interviews are behavioral and blind, as always
-Q: How many total applicants for R1? A: as usual, over 2000, which is consistent every year.
-Q: How many to be invited for interview? A: cannot provide this info. We don't use quotas like that...depends on the strength of the pool of applicants and those decisions haven't
-HUB cities are Hong Kong, Tokyo, Beijing, Mumbai, New Delhi, Seoul, London, Dubai, Dallas, San Francisco
- Good interview candidates have: Strong confidence strong quality of answers, thoughtful answers, etc. Just be yourself and put your best foot forward. Interviews are only one part of our process
-all our applicants are treated equally in the interview process. We do not tailor the interview to the candidate
-The whole application, including the interview, is used in the final decision process
-Come professionally dressed and with a good understanding of what to expect in a behavioral interview
-Confidence, good overall presentation and thoughtful answers

I was able to get in after clicking refresh several times…

-Interviews will be blind, behavioral. The new rumored interview format (group discussion) will not be used in R1.
-Interview options: in your current location (alumni), on campus (2nd year student), or in a hub city (adcom member). I don’t remember what all the hub cities were except that the only ones in the USA were Dallas and San Fran. There were several in Asia/India, and the only one in Europe was London. If you get an interview invite you’ll get all of the info regarding locations, etc.
-Skype interviews also a possibility for some (my guess being for those in remote locations where there are no alumni/too far from a hub, etc)
-Where you choose to do the interview/with whom (adcom vs alumni vs student) will not make a difference in your chances of admission.
-“Several” invites will go out tomorrow, although they weren’t specific on how many or what % of the total. They will go out by late afternoon EST, so that 4pm estimate people were talking about on here earlier may be accurate.
-You will get an email telling you to go check your status on your app.
-All interview invites, waitlist decisions, and rejections without interview will go out by 11/11/11 at the latest.
-Dress as you would for a professional interview, bring a resume. Don’t need to bring anything else.
-All interviews are 30 minutes.

I hope this is helpful…ahhh I’m getting so nervous about tomorrow! I can’t concentrate on anything at work.
