I'd like to hear this too. In my dream scenario where I'm accepted to Booth and get in off of Wharton's WL, I'd have a really difficult time making a decision.

Same! I actually really prefer Booth in some ways, like the academics, facilities, city. Wharton might still have a stronger brand name for now, but I feel like Booth might surpass it in a few years. Just a sense I got when visiting. That Wharton is kind of 'stopped' on time while Booth keeps getting better.

I also hope I end up getting in both programs, but I'll have a really, really hard time deciding between them if I get that lucky.

Wharton's Class of 2014 facebook group down from 198 to 193 students. Weird.
facebook group increased above 200, so what is the theory,
do you think there are more accepts from waitlist?

Ummm, maybe, but it's only, like 9 more people. These could still be r1 students who finally made a decision or just finally decided to join. Who knows.

BTW - Aren't you excited about Booth? I applied to Booth rd2 and I feel like Wharton and Booth are pretty equal. Why do you favor Wharton over Booth so much? Just curious!
it is just european and global reputation of wharton.
I think booth made substantial investment in last 5 years and may have a better educational system and also definetely have far better recruitment center.
However, when I asked recruiters in europe they simply said wharton is the best finance school (harvard is the most preferred).
So being on wharton and harvard waitlist, I am a little demotivated for Booth.

Ok two more thoughts:
- We all make such investment for a better career and life, so if companies and recruiters prefer wharton, I go for wharton.
- People (obviously non-booth) said that Booth profile is similar to MIT profile. More academic, less business minded and less social (so the environment be)

But these are speculations and we need to go and see but I have a clear ranking in mind. HBS, Wharton, Booth.

I understand your thoughts.

My ranking was clearly HBS #1 and then pretty much a tie between Wharton and Booth. I agree that Wharton was seen as the best finance school, but I think as time passes, Booth is pretty much becoming equal to Wharton and in 2-5 years, will be as recognized. In my country, Brazil, a lot of the hedge fund/PE guys are from Booth. The 'older' generation is from Wharton though.

I think you should be happy about Booth, that's all. =]

Ah, and I def. think Booth is a more 'intellectual' school but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. I don't agree that people are less social though. At least not the people I know.

Best of luck to you with the waitlists!

Thanks, I hope we will celebrate together at the end of March. Initially I had the same long term view wiht you (Booth will just pass Wharton) but Wharton will not give up easily, Wharton introduced a very flexible and good curriculum this year, I was very surprised that you can have a class half term or full term, case study or learning or experiantial with many choices but we need to experience at first hand to really understand what is going on within those schools. Good luck.

Maximus, does Wharton typically call candidates admitted from the WL? If so, should we take it as a bad sign if we do not get a call on the 29th?

didn't even think about that, but good call. we'll probably get an email this evening saying that they're wrapping up round 2 decisions and expect to update us on the 30th.

Yeah, I think we should brace ourselves for "non-information".

So, there we go again, the "No News" News

Wharton Waitlist Candidates,

On Friday, March 30th, we will release both Round 2 admissions decisions and status updates for our Round 1 waitlisted candidates. Simply put, you can expect your application status to be one of three things: Admit, Deny or Continue on Waitlist.

Typically most vexing for our applicants is this last status, “Continue on Waitlist.” Should you see this on your computer screen, you may be wondering what that really means. In short, this year’s waitlist has so far proven to be an incredibly talented group and, as enrollment in the Class of 2014 evolves, we will continue to keep a waitlist of candidates whom we believe are a good fit for the program. We keep these candidates on a waitlist so that we can offer admission, should the opportunity arise. Please know that we retain a waitlist in good faith, keeping candidates for only as long as we have a reasonable expectation that a space may become available.

We understand that if you are on the waitlist, you may have to make other admissions decisions with incomplete information about your final status at Wharton. As you consider your next steps, we absolutely understand that you need to do what is in your best interest. We only ask that, should you decide that you do not wish to remain on our waitlist, to please send an e-mail to mba-admiss@wharton.upenn.edu with the subject header "Waitlist Remove." This is particularly in fairness to other applicants, as it helps us to know we are considering and reviewing only those candidates who are still interested in the program.

We continue to be grateful for your interest, patience and engagement in this process. We also appreciate the considerable time and effort you have invested. We hope that you will not hesitate to let us know if we can be of further assistance. Thank you!

They will start calling the admits in the morning on 30th of March, but it will not matter by 12:00 noon whether they call because we will learn our decision. They call a limited number of people anyway and I expect them to call the fresh round 2 admits first. We are "back up" admits anyway.
