Only two options are Wharton and Darden. I will be separating from active duty and have 60% GI Bill benefits. The below Costs of Attendance are from each school's respective websites. My fiancee will be moving with me so she will be helping some with living expenses. However, I don't want to put too much pressure on her from a financial standpoint and don't want to deplete our savings either as we are planning our wedding. We both visited Charlottesville and loved it. I liked Wharton a bit better than Darden when I interviewed. Post MBA goals are currently to go into consulting which I know Darden is well known for. Obviously Wharton is the more brand name school, but not sure if it's worth the additional out of pocket cost. Wish I could go to both admitted students weekends, but they are on the same day.
Wharton-Cost of Attendance: $111,900. No Scholarship. GI Bill Contribution- $14k a year for tuition. GI Bill Housing Stipend-$11k. Total-$25k. This leaves a net of $86,900 I would have to fund with savings and loans. Have some savings, but not enough to cover difference.
Darden-Cost of Attendance: $94,524. Scholarship amount-$33,750. GI Bill Contribution-$40,500. $8,651 for housing from GI Bill. Total $82,901. Leaving a net of $11,623 which I could easily cover with savings. I was also accepted to UVA Law and might pursue a joint JD/MBA if I attend Darden. All tuition for law school covered from scholarship and GI Bill as well.
