We require sum of the two adjacent sides.

(1) The area of the parallelogram is 35 and the base is 7.
So height is 5, but the second side could be anything.
See the attached figure. All 3 parallelogram have area 35, as height is 5 in each case.
We can have infinite solutions
Insufficient

(2) WX + XY is 12
Sum of adjacent sides is 12, so perimeter =2*12=24
Sufficient

Hi stutim96,

chetan2u has provided a helpful picture that can help clarify what you are asking about. With a parallelogram, there are two pairs of opposite sides - and each matching pair is parallel and the same length. With Fact 1 in this question, the sides of the parallelogram COULD be 7 and 5 (if we're actually dealing with a rectangle)... but if it's any other parallelogram besides a rectangle, then we have two sides with lengths of 7 and two sides of some length OTHER than 5.
