Q. When John returned from Thai Land, he said the people
were intellegenter and more small than what he imagined.a) were intelligenter and more small than what he imagined
b) was more intelligent and more small than he imagined
c) were more intelligent and smaller than he had imagined
d) were intelligenter and smaller than he had imagined
e) was more intelligent and smaller than he was imagining
I thought answer C was the right answer. But according to the corrections in the book answer E is the right one. I don't understand why. I thought you couldn't use imagine in the continuous form because it describes a state. Can someone explain to me why answer E is correct? Thanks!
Very simple question
a) were intelligenter and more small than what he imagined - No , we should use more intelligent , not intelligenter
b) was more intelligent and more small than he imagined - Wrong because of use of was , people plural = were plural
c) were more intelligent and smaller than he had imagined - taking care of all the errors - CORRECT
d) were intelligenter and smaller than he had imagined - same as A No
e) was more intelligent and smaller than he was imagining - same issue as B also imaginiing is wrong , since he imagined in deeper past even before going to Thailand , it should be HAD IMAGINED
