You have a very interesting personal story and community involvement leading worthwhile causes. Demonstrating strong accomplishments at work as you can do through promotions and substantiated achievements, and strong letters of recommendation can help further show your potential. Scoring high on the GMAT (as you expect) would help show academic potential to address potential concerns on GPA. You may also explain how GPAT does not reflect your full potential given your need to work, which can also be used to relate to your resilience and resourcefulness.
Regarding your question, schools would also tend to expect higher levels of responsibility if you apply as an older candidate. Thus, you must consider how much you expect the promotion to Manager to enrich your professional experiences, and how the additional time will also allow you to accomplish more with your passions outside work, as these could also significantly impact your chances.
