Hey - good to hear from you again! So two quick questions for you before I answer. You mentioned putting the CFA on the back burner. But you mentioned earlier you weren't retaking the GMAT because of the CFA. Any thoughts on the retake? Also, what do you reasonably expect to happen in your career in the next year? Essentially, more of the same, or something huge? Linear growth or exponential growth?

Hi Bhavik,

Yes, I'm thinking I might retake the GMAT in the hopes of scoring a 720 or higher. I'm not sure if attaining that score is entirely possible since I was scoring around 660-690 on my practice tests but I might as well give it a shot since I don't have much to lose! As far as my career goes, unfortunately I think it'll be more of the same. I work at a relatively small shop and there's not much room for growth here. That's also a reason why I want to go to a top 20 program - so that I can get a better/more front-facing role at a larger firm with more exposure to the type of work I want to do (more analysis as opposed to back office operations type roles). Let me know what you think.

Thanks again!

So I think the decision's been made for you. Apply this year. If you don't see yourself really pulling in some amazing experiences next year, all you'll end up doing is stagnating at best. Definitely retake the GMAT - don't psych yourself out. You might rock it! And you have time, so try it. But it'll come down to your story and your application in the end. And make sure you have a plan B...whether that's a R2 strategy or something else entirely up your sleeve, have a think about what you'll do if you don't get in. Better to think through that now, than later!
