While many people believe that laughter is exclusively a human trait, [#permalink]
SHIVMA wrote:
what is the answer of 1st and 2nd question according to me both answer is option 'E', is i am right?

No the answer cannot be E because it’s mentioned in the third paragraph that when rats are tickled they laugh and same is also the case with chimpanzees . Therefore the answer to 1st question is D and not E .

And for 2nd it’s not E because the passage is not concerned with distinguish the animals and the humans , therefore C is the Answer .

Hope this helps :)

1. According to the passage, each of the following is true of chimpanzees EXCEPT
[/b]
A. their laughing sounds are similar to those made by human infants - True, given in the passage.
B. they laugh while inhaling and exhaling- True, given in the passage.
C. they laugh when they engage in play-fighting - Not given in the passage for chimpanzees, however the last paragraph says that animals have the ability to distinguish between play-fights and aggressive fights- which shall be applicable to chimpanzees also.
D. they sometimes produce vowel sounds while laughing -It is clearly given that the won't produce vowel sounds.
E. they can produce laughter when tickled- True, given in the passage.
D is the correct answer

2. The primary purpose of the passage is to

A. argue for further research into a certain behavior
B. show the similarities and differences between one animal’s behavior and another’s
C. provide evidence against a common belief about a certain behavior
D. dispute the claims of scientists about animal behavior
E. explain why humans and other animals are different

The passage initially talks about a common belief that laughing is only a human ability. But later the passage gives several evidences that many other animals are able to laugh.
This has been stated in option C only.
Hence, Option C is the answer.
