Who vs Whom?

In what circumstances do we apply "whom" vs what circumstances dictate the usage of "who"?

Simply put,
"WHO" for subjects 
"WHOM" for objects

A question with WHO gives answer for SUBJECT.
A question with WHOM gives answer for OBJECT.

I have a question on them v/s whom. Is there any difference in below sentence. Does usage of 'them' creates a run on sentence and with 'whom' this is not the problem. If its true, please explain a bit
