In what circumstances do we apply "whom" vs what circumstances dictate the usage of "who"?

WHO is used to refer Subject
WHOM is used to refer Object

In addition to above mentioned rule, refer below mentioned link

I have a question on them v/s whom.

Is there any difference in below sentence. Does usage of 'them' creates a run on sentence and with 'whom' this is not the problem. If its true, please explain a bit :)

''On the list of chefs qualified to participate in the quarter finals of Master-Chef are the names of many novices, almost all of WHOM cook as well as their seasoned counterparts ''

v/s

............,almost all of them cook as well as their seasoned
