(A) if there is an absence of support from your subordinate
(B) if the support of your subordinate is absent
This implies the support for the subordinate is absent
(C) there being an absence of support from your subordinate
Being ... :)
(D) when your subordinate support is absent
This implies there are more than one forms of support
(E) without the support of your subordinate
Correct

Chetan please try to provide the OA with the question.

Hi Ankur, i feel providing OA in beginning itself, at times, forces a person to focus on the answer straight rather than going through various options. H  owever you are bang on the answer..

52. You will find it difficult to work efficiently in office if there is an absence of support from your subordinates.
(A) if there is an absence of support from your subordinate
(B) if the support of your subordinate is absent
(C) there being an absence of support from your subordinate
(D) when your subordinate support is absent
(E) without the support of your subordinate

In my view answer should be D. How can the office be 'without the support....',

I think the important thing to remember is that E manages to convey the meaning without any problems.
A is wordy and uselessly passive in construction.
B is little awkward because it might convey that there is a third person we are talking about- Support staff of the subordinate......
C is clearly awkward.
D is grammatically correct but it conveys the wrong meaning. We are talking about all times in the office and not just when the subordinate staff is absent.

(A) if there is an absence of support from your subordinate It's wordy, but the grammar is correct. Let's keep it for now
(B) if the support of your subordinate is absent Implies that the subordinate's support (can be any support staff) is absent
(C) there being an absence of support from your subordinate Being is used. Sentence is awkward.
(D) when your subordinate support is absent Changes meaning. Implies that support is subordinate.
(E) without the support of your subordinate Much better option than A. This option is succint and conveys the meaning perfectly. Correct!
