Hi,

I am planning to start preparing for GMAT. I have bad academics in 10th and 12th (more than 60% in both) but in graduation, I have better percentage (73% in B.tech). I have total 4.5 years of experience in IT industry. Along with this I own 2 startups. Will I be able to secure admission in good management collages if I secure 730+.

Hi Ashish,

1) 10th and 12th scores don’t matter. Colleges don’t ask for it.
2) Undergrad Score and college matters.
3) Indian male IT profile is the toughest demographic. Success will depend on how well you are able to paint a profile which stands out. High GMAT scores definitely help.
4) Which colleges are you interested in? Depends on what you consider good management colleges.. your chances depend on the college tiers..

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I am thinking about under Top 50 colleges. Will my startup experience not going to add any value in my profile?

I think you should be competitive for Top 50 colleges. Startup experience may be useful but depends on how it fits your goals post MBA,

Yes, startup experience can add value provided it helps your career objectives in some way. What’s also important is the quality of that experience because it’s completely self-driven. In your particular case, running two startups will make me bit skeptical. Even one is not easy. You also need to connect dots between your professional experiences so far and what you plan to do in future. You also need to ask what would happen to the two startups if you pursue an MBA. That needs some explanation too.
