I have been using a variety of course material but was still unsatisfied with the way SC was dealt with. Being a non-native speaker, I was especially anxious about this part. That is when a GMAT buddy recommended Magoosh to me and I am glad I tried. Till I used Magoosh, I had been through a lot of theory which I found difficult to apply. Although going through Magoosh’s SC videos were exhausting, but at the end of it I realized I had a firm handle over my concepts. These high-quality videos are well-researched and well-explained. The thing the Magoosh does right is that it not only goes into great depth but it also uses a lot of examples to drill that concept in. Additionally, the tips and concepts illustrated in the videos are of really high quality. The CR and RC areas are decently covered too. All the videos are short, exhaustive and easily comprehensible. They do use a lot of jargons, but you will get used to it.
As for the quant, being an Asian, I was already pretty decent with quant and didn’t need much help on that front. But I didn’t regret the quick refresher that Magoosh gave me. A lot of the tips were really handy especially the pacing tips.
Additionally, the almost 1000 practice questions that Magoosh have put up are, in my opinion, one of the best in its class and one of the most GMAT-like questions out there. The questions not only test on a variety of concepts but also test these concepts repeatedly so that the student learns from repetition and becomes confident with his/her skills. Each question is followed up by a video and text explanation and gives a link to the related concept videos and theory. The tags assigned to the questions along with the ability to flag a question for review, makes not only the question solving but also the revision very easy.
In all, Magoosh is the perfect one stop solution to all your GMAT-woes. It starts from the scratch with its comprehensive and high quality videos and brings you to your zenith with its high level questions and tips for exam taking.
I had the opportunity to try the Quant Scholaranium Beta version. At first I had no expectation out of these questions. But boy was I in for a surprise. The questions were of really good quality with a good level of difficulty. I found them to be more GMAT-like than the questions of a lot of other GMAT-Prep providers. Note that these questions are not for the faint hearted. Pick this course up only if you are already on the Q49 level but still want more. The 2nd best thing about Quant Scholarium is the explanations for the questions. They are not only logical but they also give you different ways to solve each questions. I used to even go through questions that I had got correct just to find out a more time efficient way of solving the question. The UI is pretty neat and they have done a good job by keeping tags for various topics, difficulty level and type of questions (PS/DS). This enabled me to target my preparation. I picked up the topics that I found difficult first and then worked my way down. The quantity of questions are good (711 questions and approx. 250 of them are categorized as hard) and should be more than enough practice for the exam. The option to flag a question is a plus. The 3rd best thing about Quant Scholarium is the analytics which is by far the best that I have seen. The Dashboard and the Skill Data tab gives some pretty neat analytics which help identify specific weak areas. The landing page calculates and displays various statistics that helped me to identify my weak areas. So, for example, I found out that while I was pretty good with Probability, I needed to work on Permutations and Combinations. The Attempts tab helped me keep track of my performance and gave me a “grade” of sorts (weighted average) of my performance.
All in all I am pretty satisfied with eGMAT’s quant scholarium. This course came at the right time and now I am more confident of “breaking” the Q49 plateau.
I would like to rate the Magoosh experience as quite satisfactory. Having given my first practice GMAT test at 530 to getting a 650 in the actual test in a short span of one and half months. I feel the program did its job quite well. Having good videos for all the concepts helped me learn. There one month study plan is very comprehensive and challenging.
I would say the quant content was quite good and involved a great number of practice problems with excellent video explanations.
I am satisfied with the verbal part. Though I feel after going through the whole verbal practice I could not improve much....but though the problem could be entirely in me not them.
Being a non native English speaker, I took e-Gmat's verbal online course after I attended a free webinar from E-gmat and found it helpful. The content of the course is very good. The course helps to go into details without making it complicated. The SC section is exhaustive and explains in great detail. Their approach to sentence correction is probably the best among all the prep companies. The practice tests in each module helps in fine tuning my preparation. I strongly recommend candidates to take this course to succeed in gmat's verbal section. They also offer some free concepts on their website where you can see first hand the quality of their resources.
Magoosh is a good tool for GMAT aspirants, quant questions are very useful to students, In GMAT real exam I got some questions same as in magoosh quant. coming to verbal section this section is a quite different from math’s, It requires complete knowledge of English along with lots of patience to read passages. I felt magoosh passages are a bit lengthier than GMAT orginal exam.
Positives:
• Great flexibility to practice questions as we like,
• Magoosh score predictor is very accurate.
• Explanation of questions and their answers is very nice.
• Customer service is good, reply for doubts will be addressed soon.
• Magoosh YouTube videos like Tuesdays with Kevin are very useful.
Considerations: The only thing I feel wrong with Magoosh is the slow pace of English lessons.
Magoosh is great. Their concept videos are incredibly detailed and give you a great foundation for everything you'll need. Additionally, their practice problems have video solutions that walk you through every step so you're never lost and know exactly what you may have done wrong. I would definitely recommend Magoosh to anyone who is serious about getting a top score. Between their study plans and content, they are one of the best out there. Before Magoosh I didn't know the mechanics of sentence correction on the GMAT and would choose answers that "sounded" best. I wanted something that would help me learn how to actually solve SC questions and not just make educated guesses. The only thing I think they could do better would be their CATs.
Very extensive and structured approach to GMAT Verbal. Recommended for non natives, and for natives who are looking for a theoretical/structured approach to SC/CR/RC
I found the CR course to be helpful as there are a number of 'drills' per concept, enabling one to develop good 'thinking habits'. I would recommend the CR course for those who are beginning their studies.
Verbal Scholaranium is excellent as the questions are tough, explanations logical, and presentations clear. Furthermore, the explanations are provided in such a way that they are an extension of the course concepts - opposed to a short and brief summary of 'some' errors that many other test prep companies choose to provide.
Highly recommended
e-GMAT has provided the most logical explanation of Verbal Section of GMAT. I had gone through other coaching institutes and books such as Powerscore and Aristotle, but nothing could meet its explanation.
By using e-GMAT, I came to know that there is nothing more correct or more wrong in VA section. It will be either right or wrong in the given perspective of the question, be it SC , CR , or RC. Prior to e-GMAT this confusion lead to low accuracy.
So far the pre-thinking analysis of any question is best tool, which e-GMAT has provided, to crack a question.Even though the process seems to be be time taking in the beginning phase, but the scholaranium guided me step by step to improve time and helped me in increasing scores in mocks.
Earlier my score use to fluctuate between 21-30 in mock, but after going through the preparation with e-GMAT my score became consistent and started touching 40 in mocks, be it e-gmat mock or gmatprep.
Additionally, the support provided by the team for the queries are great. For some of the questions, after reading initial provide analysis, I felt that just to convince the students the explanation is given in a particular way, and I was adamant that my answer is correct. But upon raising this issue with the team, they helped me in analysing the logical methodology and reason for the given explanation.
Hopefully, I will be able to achieve my target score in my upcoming GMAT.
The e-GMAT Verbal Review is the best course for GMAT English Prep for non-native speakers.
Sentence Correction is dealt with effectively with enough examples and practice exercises. The explanations are concise and meaningful. The course material steadily builds up in difficulty.
Critical reasoning and Reading Comprehension are also dealt with nicely. Clear explanations are given and I noticed a marked improvement in my scores almost immediately.
The practice questions given are plenty and I believe that if one goes through all the practice questions it is sufficient practice to ace the GMAT
All in all, this product is definitely worth the price which was paid for it and I highly recommend it!
After struggling with Verbal for a prolonged period of time, I started extensive research online for a program that best fit my needs. I attended one of the free classes, and found e-GMAT as the right course for myself. I was good at SC but weak at RC and CR. Therefore, I went over the videos over and over again to solidify the concepts and strategies in my head. Once I started implementing the process, my score shot up. These strategies really work like a charm if you are disciplined enough to trust them, and follow them diligently. I would like to thank the e-GMAT team for the great work they have done to help students realize their potential.
